A speech and communication app for parents

Help your love become language.

It can be hard to remember your child’s exact words or the question you meant to ask once you’re in an appointment. Gestalts is an app for saving those examples and questions, ready to talk them through with your speech pathologist.

Tuesday

A phrase in the car I want to remember

Before next time

Ask what to try when the words do not come

Over days, months and years

Help your speech pathologist understand the days between visits.

You see everyday moments that may not come up during an appointment. Keep a note of what your child said, what went well, what was difficult or how an activity went. Then you and your speech pathologist have real examples to talk through together.

  1. Monday

    A word in the car

  2. Tuesday

    Something that helped

  3. Wednesday

    A question for next time

  4. Thursday

    A tricky school pickup

  5. Friday

    A phrase worth keeping

  6. Saturday

    A small surprise

  7. Sunday

What do I need to ask?

Next appointment

Remember what you wanted to ask

Look back over the week and pick the words, questions or things you tried that you want to talk about.

While you wait

Keep notes for your first visit

Save the words and questions that come up while you wait, ready to talk through when you meet your speech pathologist.

When someone new joins

Explain it without starting again

Find earlier examples to help a new speech pathologist or teacher understand what you’ve noticed over the months and years.

You don’t need to keep a perfect diary. Just save the things you want to talk about.

How it works

Keep your notes ready for your first or next appointment.

Save a question when it comes to you, bring it to your appointment, then keep a note of what you discussed. You don’t have to hold it all in your head on the way home.

“The best advice I got from another parent was, ‘Write everything down.’

We tried reminders and a sheet on the fridge. They helped for a while, but we struggled to keep it up. This is the app I built to help me do it.”

Jot it down while it’s fresh

Save what your child said, something that happened or a question for later. Add a short audio clip to a word or phrase so you can listen back later.

  2. 02

    Look back before your appointment

Keep the questions that come to you during the week. Before the appointment, pick the examples and questions you want to discuss, so they’re there when it’s time to ask.

  3. 03

    Keep what you discussed afterwards

Jot down what your speech pathologist said and what you agreed to try at home. You can look back later, after the rush to get to the next thing.

The things that happen between appointments

Save the words. Hear them again.

Your child says something in the car, while you’re playing, or just as you’re leaving the house. Save the word or phrase in Memories and add an audio clip. You can play it back later instead of trying to remember exactly how it sounded.

  • Listen back to the audio clip you saved with a word or phrase
  • Add what was happening and why you wanted to remember it
  • Keep the lovely moments, the hard ones and things you want to ask about

Reports for different conversations

What do you need to bring them up to speed on?

An update since your last appointment is different from explaining things to someone new. Choose what the report is for, the dates and the types of notes to include. Gestalts makes a draft for you to read and edit before sharing.

An appointment update

Meeting someone new

An introduction for a new practitioner

Summarise what you’ve noticed over time, so you have a starting point when someone new joins your child’s support team.

School interviews and support meetings

A summary for a school conversation

Bring the everyday examples you want to discuss with a teacher, or prepare a handover when your child changes class or school.

When school starts

School moves fast. Keep what was said.

You’re busy. Teachers are busy. A quick chat at pickup can be hard to remember by the time you get home. Save school updates, questions and your own notes from meetings in Memories, so you can find what was discussed when you need it.

What happened, what you agreed to try and what you want to ask next, together in one place.

Work with your speech pathologist

The activity sheet, on your phone.

That handout on the fridge can be easy to leave behind. With Connect, your speech pathologist can send activities and custom tracking sheets to your app. Keep the instructions handy, add an entry when you try an activity, and give them something specific to review.

For speech pathologists

“What did we agree to try at home?”

Your practitioner can send practical notes about the strategies you’re working on together. You can read them again at home and reply with how things went.

Optional GLP learning · Companion

For the questions that come to you at home.

Sometimes you’re still thinking about the day when everyone else is asleep. Or you’d like a fresh idea for a familiar game, like I spy. GLP Companion is an AI chat tool for exploring general information about gestalt language processing and ideas for everyday play.

It can suggest a moment from your conversation to keep in Memories, or a question to ask your speech pathologist. You review the suggestions and choose what to save. Questions about advice for your child belong with your practitioner.

Why we built it

Built by a parent who needed this too.

Gestalts began with our family’s experience of gestalt language processing. I wanted one place for the words, questions and everyday things I kept meaning to bring up with the people supporting my daughter.

You don’t need to know about GLP to use Gestalts. You can save notes, keep questions and prepare for appointments, whether you’re waiting for support or already seeing a speech pathologist. The GLP learning tools are there if they’re useful to you.

Questions parents ask

Clear answers before you start.

What is Gestalts?
Gestalts is an app for parents supporting a child’s speech and communication. Save words, phrases, everyday observations and questions in one place, then choose what you want to bring to a conversation with a speech pathologist.
Can I use Gestalts before a first appointment?
Yes. You can save notes and questions while waiting for an appointment, before meeting a speech pathologist for the first time, or between visits. You do not need to connect with a practitioner to start saving notes.
What can I do for free?
The free Starter plan includes saving notes and exporting selected notes without AI rewriting. AI-assisted summaries and reports are included with Prepare and Connect. Practitioner connections, activities and connected sharing require Connect. See the pricing page for current AUD prices and tool limits.
Is Gestalts a health or clinical record?
No. Gestalts is a family tool for notes, saved moments and appointment preparation. It is not a health or clinical record, and it should not be used for emergencies or treatment decisions. Formal clinical records stay with the practitioner.
Is Gestalts only for families of gestalt language processors?
No. Gestalts began with one family’s experience of gestalt language processing, and some educational tools are GLP-specific. The core tools for saving notes, preparing questions and choosing what to share can be useful across many speech and communication journeys.
Does Gestalts replace a speech pathologist?
No. Gestalts helps families organise what they notice and prepare for conversations. Assessment, diagnosis, clinical interpretation and therapy decisions belong with qualified professionals.
Who can see what I add?
For Memories, you decide whether to connect and which types of notes a practitioner can see. New notes can follow those sharing settings. You can make individual notes private and change or remove access. When you submit an entry for a practitioner’s activity, authorised practitioners can review it. Activities and practical notes require a connection and the relevant permissions.
How do the AI tools fit alongside professional support?
Companion offers general GLP information and play ideas, with suggestions you can review and choose to save. It does not assess your child or provide clinical advice. Reports are AI-assisted drafts of your notes to check and edit, not clinical assessments. Storybook is a parent-led creative activity to make and read together, not therapy. Your speech pathologist guides your child’s clinical support.
