I'm Tim. If you're here, you know what it's like watching your child struggle to communicate whilst feeling powerless to help.
Our daughter Olivia, now five, taught us everything about gestalt language processing. This is our story, not as experts, but as parents who've walked exactly where you are now.
Born in lockdown
Olivia arrived in May 2020, midst of COVID lockdowns. So like many, we had no family visits, no playgroups, just us. As she grew, milestones came slowly. Walking late. Words even later.
We told ourselves it was the isolation. "She'll catch up," we'd say. But that hope mixed with growing worry.
Six-month waitlists
By two, her speech had plateaued. The paediatrician referred us to specialists. The waitlist? Six months. Every day felt like lost time.
We tried everything at home. Read books, played games, encouraged sounds. Progress was painfully slow. The guilt was overwhelming.
Understanding GLP
At four, a speech therapist mentioned gestalt language processing. Everything clicked.
Her perfect quotes weren't random. Her shutting down when we asked questions weren't defiance. She was learning language in whole chunks, not building from single words.
We changed everything. Embraced her echolalia. Modelled full phrases. Stopped drilling words. She began to bloom.
Starting school
Kindergarten brought new challenges. Olivia struggled with abstract rules like "ask permission first." She'd try holding classmates' hands and get confused when told off.
Her therapist created a simple storybook about personal space using pictures of Olivia. It clicked instantly. Stories worked where instructions didn't. This was another lightbulb moment for us, that Olivia just learned things in a different way.
Creating support tools
The gaps were obvious. Sparse therapy sessions meant forgetting insights. Emotional lows needed immediate support. Tracking milestones amid daily chaos was impossible.
We built what we desperately needed: an AI GLP companion to support play sessions and provide information, chat support for tough days and support when doubt creeps in, automatic milestone tracking so we'd never walk into an appointment unprepared, and journey summaries for specialists because scattered notes weren't working.
These tools transformed our sessions with Olivia. They helped us arrive prepared, track progress, and feel less alone. We realised other families might need this too.
We're not speech therapists, we're just parents who built tools to survive the gaps between sessions. If you're facing long waits or feeling overwhelmed, we understand completely. And we're here to help fill those gaps, alongside your specialists.
You're not alone in this.
